Frankenstein: From Page to Stage to Screen - Exhibit & Experience webinar
The popular image many people have of Frankenstein and his monster is very different from how they're depicted in Mary Shelley's 1818 novel. Many people also blame the movies for this difference, but departures from Shelley's novel actually began with the first stage adaptations starting in 1823. Dr. Harris-Fain will discuss this history, Shelley's reaction to seeing her work transformed, and how these stage adaptations laid the groundwork for the movies, especially the classic films starring Boris Karloff.
